Andie’s Post

In the Words of the Early 2000's, Keep Calm and Carry On-

There is an inverse relationship between my mental health and the news I consume on a daily basis.  The more news, the worse the mental health.  I'm asking myself the following questions: "What does meaningful, informed engagement look like?  Where is the tipping point between being in the know and being paralyzed?"  I don't have a ton of insight to offer in this realm, but I will say this: You are only responsible for what is in your sphere of influence, even if you wish it was all within your influence.  Friends, there are a million little fires burning everywhere, and you can't put them all out.  You can, however, be faithful to what falls at the intersection of your ability, your resources, and your control.  Today, I'm parked at Pinewood working on those things that fall within my scope.  I'm working on the plan for Prep Parties.  For the Church Fair at Baylor.  For our Fall calendar.  I'm working on the things that will reach and enrich our community, both inside and outside of UBC.  I can make a difference in Waco, and so can you.  I'm thrilled at the level of interest around the new and creative ways to engage that we are instituting, and my encouragement to us all is to guard against losing the message in the mess.  Let's articulate the love of God with clarity and consistency as we subvert hatred with the strongest of all forces: The presence of God among us.

GIVING

UBC survives on the generosity of our congregation. Your financial contributions allow us to continue to create a space that is welcoming to all, embraces beauty, and seeks to live life to the fullest.

You can give, as you’re able, on Sunday mornings or set up a single or recurring online gift here.

If you ever have trouble with giving online or have a question about how to give, feel free to email administrator@ubcwaco.org.

We’ve committed to collect backpacks and supplies for 10 kids. You can sign-up in the foyer at church or email toph@ubcwaco.org When you sign-up, Toph will send you the list of supplies you will need to buy.
