sunday mornings

The Other Side

If you are a grad student, young professional or simply a recent graduate looking for work, married or not married, this Sunday School class is for you! This group was begun several years ago, and many people have found their most meaningful UBC community out of this group. This spring we will be continuing our study of the gospel of Mark.
Location: The Brown Room

The Upside

If you walk into the Other Side and think to yourself, “Look at all these babies!,” then the UpSide is for you! The UpSide has also grown over the years to include younger UBC’ers who want to be around the wisdom of people who walk into the Other Side and think “Look at all these babies!” This group has a great time, as can be heard from the laughter coming out of their room every Sunday.
Location: The Piano Room

How to (and not to) Read the Bible

Do you open the Scriptures and find yourself, more often than not, asking yourself “What in the world am I supposed to make of this?” Have you become increasingly discontent with ways of studying the Bible that may be popular among your friends and family, but seem empty and hollow to you, yet you have not found a meaningful alternative? This group will help you recognize and shed unhealthy Bible study habits, and will give you tools to help Scripture come alive to you.
Location: The Rock 'n Roll Room.

The Contemplative Tradition

This group will meet together and explore a variety of contemplative practices to aid in prayer, meditation and study. Time will be spent looking at art, reading Scripture through lectio divina practices, experiencing quiet and reflective moments in the UBC garden, and a number of other activities to help you slow down and commune with God and God’s people.
Location: The White Room (Upstairs)

The World

At UBC we acknowledge that our weekly times together in worship and small groups are vital and indispensable practices to becoming disciples of Jesus. However, most of our weekly hours are spent outside in what is often referred to as “The World.” This group will explore ways to live in “The World.” Although politics, economics, ethics, sociology and a number of other topics will be broached, the purpose of this group is to lean into “The World” with the hope and purposes of Jesus always at the tip of our tongues.
Location:The Red Room
