Many of you have inquired about ways to help. Currently, there are two main ways that the family has advocated:

a) Donations to a fund that is currently being established as a memorial for Kyle. The Memorial fund is a scholarship fund for the children and to provide for family needs. We are able to take contributions to this immediately. Please make your check payable to University Baptist Church, and on the “Memo” line note: “Kyle Lake Memorial.”

b) Donations to University Baptist Church directly, which may be made through the PayPal link at the below or as a check to 1701 Dutton Ave., Waco, TX 76706 (all mail will be forwarded to a business PO Box that is being obtained).

More than anything, we truly covet your prayers during these trying times. We’ve lost an amazing leader and we’re relying on support from both within and outside of the UBC community as we try to move forward.

For the emotional well-being of our staff and our community, we will temporarily be relocating our offices to the "Crowder Barn," which is located at 1503 Washington through the end of the year. Our mailing address through the end of the year (the Dutton one will still reach us, but this will be quicker) is: PO Box 2089, Waco, TX, 76703.

We are grateful to so many people who have provided us with everything from prayers to food. We wanted to particularly thank First Baptist Church Waco who has been incredibly gracious by offering their building for the reflection and the funeral services, as well as hosting the family lunch. We would also like to thank the Waco Baptist Association for all of their generosity, including providing temporary office space. Baylor University and Truett Seminary have also been a great help and the use of their chapel this Sunday for our service will be a great blessing.

PRESS RELEASE

From:               University Baptist Church , Waco, Texas Leadership Team

Re:                   University Baptist Church , Waco, Texas / Kyle Lake

Dated:              October 31, 2005; 4 :00 p.m.

The congregation of University Baptist Church continues to mourn the loss of its pastor Kyle Lake as a result of an accidental electrocution at services on Sunday, October 30, 2005. The determination of the cause of the accident is being reviewed by technical professionals and authorities. We have no further information available to us at this time about the cause of this tragedy. As a result of the need to allow for the evaluation of the facilities and this accident, Sunday services for November 6, 2005 for University Baptist Church will be moved to the chapel at Truett Seminary.

Our focus at this time is to mourn the loss of Kyle Lake and to celebrate his life with his family, the University Baptist Church congregation and the community.

The funeral services have been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Waco, 500 Webster – corner of 5th and Clay. Viewing is at 12:00 noon.

On the morning of Sunday October 30th, our pastor Kyle Lake was involved in an accident during a baptism and was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital.  Kyle passed away around 11:30am .  Not only did we lose a pastor but we've lost our friend.

We are confident that Kyle is in heaven today because of his trust in Jesus Christ as his Savior.

“And this is the testimony:  God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.  I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. “  -1 John 5:11 -13

The family would like donations in lieu of flowers to be sent to University Baptist Church , the church that Kyle pastored and loved.  You may send this to 1701 Dutton Avenue , Waco , TX 76706 .  If you feel led to correspond with Jen or the Lake family, also send letters via UBC.

Please continue to keep the Lake family in your prayers
